Daisho Blacksmith
Registrierung und Lizensierung Licensing

This article outlines the process for licensing your copy of Daisho.

Purchasing a License

There are two options for licensing Daisho.  You can purchase either a full license or a subscription.  A license can be purchased any time, here.

The full license allows you to use Daisho for as long as you want and entitles you to all updates.

The subscription license allows you to use Daisho for up to one year.  After one year, you will be required to purchase a new license and go through the licensing process once more.  At this stage, it is also possible to purchase a full license.

Registering with Daisho

When you start using Daisho, you have the option to register your product.

The benefits of registering include:

  • free email notification of updates and special offers
  • the ability to license up to 3 copies of Daisho on different computers

If you license Daisho, you must register.  We use your registration details as an extra security layer and use them to confirm your identity when licensing other computers.  This makes it almost impossible for criminals to steal your license information.

Finally, we take privacy seriously!  We promise to keep your registration information private and will never share your information with any third parties.

Entering License Information

Once your payment for a Daisho license has been successfully processed, you will be sent an email confirming your payment, along with information required for licensing Daisho.

You should enter this information exactly.  If some part of the data you've entered is incorrect, the license key field will be highlighted red.  If this happens it means some part of the information you've entered (not just the license key) is incorrect.  Please check that you've filled out all fields correctly.

Entering Registration Information

If you've licensed Daisho on another computer or you registered your copy of Daisho in the First Time Wizard, you should already have an account on our activation server.  In that case, please enter the email address and password you used when creating your account.

If you haven't got an account on the activation server, the software will automatically use your licensing email address.  Simply enter a password.  Make a note of the email address and the password that is used.  You will need it if you want to license Daisho on other computers.

Selecting a licensing method

We understand that some people are not able or willing to use direct licensing, so we've provided some alternative licensing methods.

If you want to license quickly and directly with our activation server, select the "Connect directly to the activation server" radio button.

If you would prefer to license via email or over the web, this is also possible.  Select the "Perform licensing either via the web or email" radio button.

Once you've made your selection, click next to continue with licensing.

Direct Licensing

Direct licensing is quick and easy.  It's our preferred method of licensing because it get's you started using Daisho quickly.  Daisho will connect directly to our activation server and send your licensing data using an encrypted connection.  Once your licensing information is confirmed by the server, your software will be activated and you can get back to your busy schedule.

When the licensing wizard opens, Daisho performs a quick check to see if it can connect to the activation server.  If the "Connect directly to the activation server" radio button is disabled, this means you are unable to connect to the licensing server for some reason.  If you are unable to connect, you should use the alternative method.

Direct licensing shouldn't take you more than a few minutes to complete.

If your licensing request is invalid for some reason, a dialog will open which will give you some information about the error that occurred.  Most of the time errors occur because users have used all their available licenses or because their activation account information is incorrect.  Please see the Troubleshooting section for information on how to deal with these problems.

Alternative Licensing

We understand that some people have difficulty getting an unrestricted network connection.  Corporate networks, personal firewalls or remote locations can make direct licensing difficult, so we have some alternative methods for your convenience.

Once you've filled in your information on the licensing wizard, select the "Perform licensing either via the web or email" radio button and click next.

Overview

Alternative licensing is a three step process.

  1. Save your licensing request.  A licensing request data file is generated and saved on your computer.
  2. Send your licensing request.  The data file is sent to the Daisho activation server, where it is processed and a licensing confirmation returned and saved to your computer.
  3. Import your licensing confirmation.  The licensing confirmation is imported.  If the confirmation is valid, your copy of Daisho will be licensed.

Step 1: Save your License Request

The first thing you need to do is generate your licensing request data file.  Click the "Save As..." button and choose where you would like to save the file.  The licensing request file will be generated and saved in the location selected.  The path to the request file is shown in the text box to remind you where it is.

If for some reason the licensing request file is deleted or lost, you can safely generate a new one.

Step 2: Send your Licensing Request

Corporate firewalls often stop people from accessing the internet on any channels except via the web or email.  We provide a simple solution to this problem.  You can either access our activation web form where you can submit your licensing information, or you can send us an email.  Your licensing request will be processed and sent back to you.

Via the web

Once you've saved your licensing request file, select the "License via the web" radio button and click the License button.  You will be taken to the Daisho Activation page.

On the web page, click the "Browse" button and navigate to the location of your licensing request file and click OK.  After you've selected the licensing request file, click the Submit button to start the licensing process.

If your license request is valid, you will be redirected to another page where you can download your licensing confirmation.  After that you can go to Step 3!

If your licensing request is invalid for some reason, you'll be redirected to a page which will give you some information about the error that occurred.  Most of the time errors occur because users have used all their available licenses or because their activation account information is incorrect.  Please see the Troubleshooting section for information on how to deal with these problems.

Via the Daisho email client

Once you've saved your licensing request file, select the "License via email (using Daisho Email)" radio button and click the License button.  Daisho will open an email composer window with all the relevant information filled out for you.

If you don't have an email account configured yet, you will be prompted to create one.  For more information about creating an email account, see How to create an email account on the Email Help page.

Once the email composer is open, please confirm that all information is correct and your licensing request file is stored as an attachment.  If everything looks okay then click the "Send" button to send the email.  Your licensing request email has been sent correctly if it appears in your sent email folder.

We try to process license requests as quickly as possible and generally you should have a response in less than one business day, however during busy periods it may take up to 3 business days for your request to be processed.

Via another email client

Once you've saved your licensing request file, select the "License via email (using another email client)" radio button and click the License button.  Daisho will open attempt to open an email composer window in your preferred email client software with all the relevant email filled out for you, however because there are so many different email clients out there we can't promise this will work.  If your email client doesn't open, Daisho will provide instructions on how to compose the email yourself.

Once the email composer is open, please confirm that all information is correct and your licensing request file is stored as an attachment.  If it is then send the email.

Step 3: Import your licensing confirmation

If your licensing request was valid the server will provide you with a licensing confirmation data file.  You must import the licensing confirmation file to complete the licensing process.

On the alternative licensing page of the Licensing Wizard, select the Browse... button and navigate to the location of the licensing confirmation file that you received and select the file.  Finally, press the next button to install the license confirmation file.

If the data in the licensing confirmation file matches the data in Daisho, the software is licensed and you are taken to the final page of the wizard which notifies you of your success.

If your licensing confirmation is invalid for some reason, you'll be provided with some information about the error that occurred.  Please see the Troubleshooting section for information on how to deal with these problems.

License Daisho on other Computers

Licensing Daisho on other computers requires almost exactly the same steps as described above.  The only different is that you need to reuse your existing activation server account.  The account that you create requires a email address and a password.  Simply select the "I already have an account on the Daisho Licensing Server" radio button on the first page of the licensing wizard and provide your email address and password.

Follow the steps outlined in this help article to finish licensing.

NOTE: When you purchase a license, you are provided with 3 licenses in total for other computers you may own.  Once you have used all of those licenses you must purchase more if you wish to license more computers.

Trouble Shooting

Internet connection issues

Personal firewalls:

Since Daisho uses it's own port number (8334) for connecting to the Activation Server, a lot of personal firewall software blocks Daisho from activating.  Try disabling your personal firewall temporarily when licensing.  Remember to enable your personal firewall again when you're finished licensing.

Sending your Licensing Request

Wrong Email Address or Password

This only happens if you've got an existing account.  When entering your email address and password, you probably misspelled either your email address or password.  If you can't remember your password, please go to the forgotten password page.

To top

Email Address already exists

This happens if you're trying to create an account with an email address that already exists in our database.  If you can't remember your password, please go to the forgotten password page.

Node Id already exists

Each installation of Daisho has a unique number called a Node Id associated with it.  We send this unique id with the licensing request.  When we successfully license a node, we register this node id.  As a security measure, if somebody tries to use the same node id again, we block the transaction.  Please contact Daisho Support for more help.

Corrupt License Confirmation

It can happen that when downloading the licensing response that it somehow get's corrupted.  If the licensing confirmation cannot be read, this is probably what happened.  Download the license confirmation again and try to install it again.  If you continue to have problems please contact Daisho Support.

Invalid License Confirmation

If you receive a message telling you that your license response is invalid then you might be trying to install your licensing confirmation into the wrong installation of Daisho.  As mentioned earlier, each installation of Daisho has a unique id called a Node Id.  If the node id in the license confirmation does not match the node id in your installation of Daisho, you must start the licensing process from the beginning.  Please contact Daisho Support for more help.
